PHGA REGULAR BOARD MEETING
APRIL 4, 2008
At the Regular Meeting of the Board of Directors of the PHGA, held on Friday, April 4, 2008, at the Palatine Hills Clubhouse, the following Officers and Directors were present:

I. CALL TO ORDER
A. Ed Neuman called the meeting to order at 6:04 P.M.
II. ACCEPTANCE OF THE MINUTES FROM THE MARCH 13, 2008 MEETING
A. Minutes were presented by Ed Neuman and passed with the addition of the attendance.
III. TREASURER’S REPORT
A. No Report presented.
IV. COMMITTEE REPORTS
A. PARK DISTRICT
1. Bob Alexander reported that the collars and the traps surrounding the greens, on the east side of the creek, will be reconstructed in the fall of 2008. The collars and the traps surrounding the greens, on the west side of the creek, will be reconstructed in the fall of 2009.
B. SCORING AND HANDICAP
1. Derrell Gilstrap reported that everything was ready for the new season.
2. Derrell also reported that we have 12 new members.
C. TRAVEL EVENTS
1. Bob Bem reported that the May 15 Travel Event information is posted on the Club House and Pro Shop bulletin boards and that the sign-up sheet and payment envelope is in the Pro Shop.
D. MATCH PLAY TOURNAMENT
1. Bob Mathieson reported that he and Bob Lada have set up the format for the tournament. It will be as follows:
a) Entry fee will be $20.00 per player.
b) There will be 4 flights of 16 players.
c) The first matches will start on May 3rd and May 4th.
d) If a tie occurs, a scorecard playoff will be done starting with Hole #1.
e) After a player wins two (2) matches, they will have won back their entry fee.
f) The Tournament will run until the end of August.
E. SPRING SMOKER & SCRAMBLE
1. Gary Schwietz announced that the raffle gifts will be broken into two catagories:
2. Member donations will be in the first category using red tickets at a cost of $5.00 per ticket or 3 tickets for $10.00.
3. Sponsor donations will be in the second category using orange tickets at a cost of $5.00 per ticket and 3 tickets for $10.00.
4. Gary Schwietz said that we have nineteen (19) teams signed up and one alternate player. First tee time will be at 8:00AM.
5. The payout for each flight will be 50% for 1st place, 30% for 2nd place, and 20% for 3rd place.
6. Handicaps will be calculated for each team. The team handicap will be equal to 80% of ½ of the team’s total handicap.
F. EXCESS FUNDS
1. Bob Mathieson passed out a list of ideas that the committee had created. Bob asked the Board for a budget. Derrell Gilstrap moved for a tentative budget of $4000.00. Bob Lada seconded it and it was passed.
2. Jim Toth discussed the possibility of an annual Board Golf Outing. After much discussion, it was proposed that we play golf at Palatine Hills, possibly against the Palatine Hills Staff. It was moved, seconded, and unanimously passed. Further detailed discussion will take place at the next Board meeting.
V. NEW BUSINESS
A. The next meeting will be at 7 P.M. on May 8, 2008 at the Palatine Hills Clubhouse.
VI. ADJOURNMENT
A. Ken Mattuck moved and Jim Toth seconded the motion for adjournment. The meeting was adjourned at 6:51 P.M.
