PHGA Board Meeting Thursday April 2, 2010

Meeting called to order at 5:40 PM by Bob Bem
Board minutes From March 11, 2010 were read and approved.
Treasurers Report – Joe Saccomanno reported that we have 97 paid members including 5 new members, the report was read and approved.
Park District Report/Golf Course Liaison – Nothing new to report.
Scorekeeper Report/ Website/ Handicap Committee – Rick Hapanowicz gave a short recap about the new PHGA website and answered some questions. He asked Joe Saccomanno to email him with the dues payment info using member’s ID#s and noting any change in members personal information. Everything is ready to go for the 2010 season.
GEM Committee – Bob Mathieson reported that he sent an email asking members to update their GEM status.
New Member Liaison – Jim Jessogne reported that he and Bill Knudsen handed out about 10 flyers at the PTT Drawing to prospective new members.
Old Business
Bob Bem reported that the John Dempster Memorial dedication will be scheduled after John Helpap returns, the plaque has been placed under his tree by the 16th tee.
Larry Niemczyk reported that he spoke with Raul about placing an elevated plaque next to Dick Semelsberger’s pine tree near the 5th tee. Larry will place a donation container on the counter in the clubhouse for Dick’s Memorial.
Scorecards - Scott Feldmiller reported that the new PHGA Scorecards are available in the clubhouse and will also be at the 1st tee.
Board Pictures – Rick Hapanowicz will take a picture of the 2010 Board after the meeting and post it on the website.
2010 Board Outing – Bob Bem reported that the proposed Board Golf Outing with the Palatine Hills Staff will not be pursued, thee has been no input from Palatine Hills.
Spring Smoker/ Scramble – Mark Schranz reported we have 58 members signed-up for the Scramble and everything is ready to go.
Commemorative Ball Markers – Scott Feldmiller said that the magnetic ball markers with the PHGA Logo would cost about $6.00 each. After a discussion, the vote indicated that we won’t spend the money for them.
New Business
President’s Cup Match Play Tournament – Bob Mathieson reported that he had 14 members signed-up and will make an announcement at the Smoker. The committee would like to have a minimum of 32 players.
Fall Smoker Location – The discussion was tabled until the next meeting.
Smoker Sponsor Raffle Donations – Gary Schwietz reported that we have received almost $1700.00 in Sponsor Donations, with Golfsmith donating $750.00 this year. Board members that helped raise donations were:

Food Costs for Holiday Events – Bob Bem reported that Open Kitchens has given us a price of $9.00 per person for a sandwich, chips, and a draft beverage for our Holiday Events. This is a $.50 increase from last year.
Smoker Food Costs – Jim Toth reported that Open Kitchens will be charging us $19.00 per pizza, from Tony’s Pizza, and $9.00 per pitcher for beer. He estimates that the food costs should be around $750.00 plus gratuity.
Additional Business
Rules – A discussion about clarifying the rules will be held next meeting.
Larry Niemczyk will post information for the Memorial Day Tournament in the pro shop and on the web site.
Board meetings will take place the second Thursday of each month, next meeting Thursday May 13.
