PHGA Board Meeting Thursday May 13, 2010

Meeting called to order at 7:03 PM by Bob Bem

 

Board minutes From April 2, 2010 were read and approved.

 

Treasurers Report – Rick Hapanowicz reported the PayPal account has been temporarily locked, Joe Saccomanno has faxed paperwork to get the account straightened out.

 

Park District Report/Golf Course Liaison – Bob Mathieson met with Raul to discuss the possible changes to the course.  Changes could include:

 

Enlarging the ponds on 15 and 18 to accept more runoff

New location for the clubhouse

Move the driving range and parking lot to include a full size range

 

Plans and artwork is to be presented to the Park District Board at the June 7 meeting.

 

Bob Alexander added that at the recent election Sue Gould was elected President, Jennifer Rogers Vice President, Nick Sawyer Treasurer, Ron Gbor Secretary.

 

Scorekeeper Report/ Website/ Handicap Committee – Rick Hapanowicz has posted a list of paid/unpaid members on the web site with a reminder that unpaid members cannot win prize money.

 

GEM Committee – Gary Schwietz reviewed one member request and made 1 exception to allow the member to play white tees, DQ if they play another tee.

 

New Member Liaison – Jim Jessogne will contact 8 new members to make sure they do not have any questions, he will put together a letter to thank the raffle prize donors.

 

Old Business

 

Scramble/Smoker Recap – The proceeds from the event paid for all expenses, which was a success, Jim Jessogne was appointed the honorary number caller for the next raffle.

 

Bob Bem reported that the John Dempster Memorial dedication will be scheduled after contacting the family.

 

Larry Niemczyk reported that he is looking for further donations for the Dick Semelsberger memorial.  The addition of a memorial fund will be discussed at the next meeting.

 

2010 Board Outing – Bob Bem reported that there has been no word on the Board Golf Outing with the Palatine Hills Staff.  The board voted and approved no further outing will be pursued.

 

 

 

New Business

 

Travel Event – Bob Bem reported there are 24 players signed up for the event at Ravisloe, the maximum.

 

A committee was formed to investigate a way to commemorate the 40th year of the PHGA, suggestions will be presented next meeting.

 

Memorial Day - Larry Niemczyk reported 17 people have signed up for the Memorial Day Tournament so far.

 

Board meetings will take place the second Thursday of each month, next meeting Thursday June 17.
